Evaluations

Dr. Lawry is currently conducting psychological evaluations for children and adolescents through adulthood. Assessment procedures may include clinical interviews and standardized psychological testing. Written reports and recommendations are provided.

Common reasons for evaluations:

  • Learning, attentional, or developmental problems
  • Conduct problems and hyperactivity
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Adjustment problems following medical illness, separation, divorce, or other losses

Types of Evaluations:

  1. Psychoeducational/Academic Evaluations
    • Full Psychoeducational Evaluation: This includes an IQ and Achievement battery plus ADHD testing to assess for the possibilities of ADHD and/or learning disabilities, combined with diagnostic interviewing to screen for the influence of depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions on educational abilities and performance.

If a full psychoeducational evaluation is not appropriate the following abbreviated evaluations may be used:

      • IQ & Achievement Evaluation (Learning Disability Evaluation/Gifted Evaluation): This includes IQ test and Achievement tests, which will provide in-depth information on intelligence, academic strengths and weaknesses, mastery of specific subtests, and the presence of a learning disability.
      • ADHD testing: This includes a clinical interview, rating scales, and subtests of an intelligence test.
      • IQ Testing only: This includes the WISC-IV which will provide in-depth information on factors related to intelligence.
      • Achievement Testing only: This includes the WIAT-II which will provide in-depth information on a child's mastery of specific subjects and on academic strengths and weaknesses.

  2. Psychological Evaluations
    • Full Psychological Evaluation: This includes cognitive, emotional, and personality testing which provides in-depth information about a person's functioning in these three areas.
    • Abbreviated Psychological Evaluation: This includes emotional and personality testing which provides in-depth information about a person's functioning in these two areas.
    • Other psychological testing: Sometimes a single or minimum number of tests are useful in clarifying the diagnosis and thus aiding in treatment planning.
